A 32-year-old South Carolina man is facing criminal charges more than a year after his mother disappeared.
Justin Queen has been charged with murder and destruction of human remains in the death of 52-year-old Christy Dunn.
The case began in June 2025 when Dunn was officially reported missing.
Her employer grew concerned after she had not been seen for about a week.
Deputies then went to her Anderson County home to investigate her disappearance.
Upon searching the residence, deputies located Dunn’s vehicle and her personal belongings.
Yet there was no sign of Dunn at the residence.
Investigators subsequently discovered what appeared to be human bones inside a burn pit on the property.

A forensic anthropologist later confirmed that the recovered bones were human.
Authorities conducted another search of the property and recovered additional human remains.
Detectives now believe Dunn was assaulted inside her home before her body was taken to the burn pit and burned.
Authorities also said witnesses had seen Queen with his mother in the woods shortly before she vanished.
Investigators used phone records, surveillance footage, and financial records to build their case.
Those records revealed that Dunn’s debit card continued being used after her disappearance.
On August 27, law enforcement arrested Queen in connection with the homicide.
He was formally charged with murder and destruction of human remains.
A judge denied him bond.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
