“MY REGISTRATION IS STILL ACTIVE IN CALIFORNIA”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY AN 81-YEAR-OLD TIER III SEX OFFENDER SPENT ABOUT SIX YEARS LIVING FULL-TIME IN NEVADA WITHOUT REGISTERING LOCALLY, AND HE HAS NOW BEEN CHARGED WITH A FELONY ON A $5,000 BAIL.
An 81-year-old California man living in Nevada has been arrested by local authorities.
Authorities say the man spent about six years residing in the state without registering as a sex offender.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office identified the accused man as William Morgan.
Sheriff’s officials said Morgan is classified as a Tier III sex offender.
Deputies located Morgan at a residence on Iroquois Trail in Stagecoach, Nevada.
He was arrested and charged with felony failure to register as a sex offender.
Investigators say Morgan had been residing in Lyon County for roughly six years.
Throughout that entire period, authorities said he never registered in Nevada as required.
And his records in another state revealed a conflicting paper trail.
Authorities said California records showed Morgan continued personally completing his annual sex offender registration there during the same timeframe.
On paper, he remained current with his registration in California.
Yet authorities alleged he was living full-time in Nevada while never registering locally.
Following his arrest, Morgan’s bail was set at $5,000.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
