“NOTHING PHYSICAL HAPPENED”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE CAPTURED A 22-YEAR-OLD LOUISIANA MAN STRIKING HIS GIRLFRIEND IN A VEHICLE AFTER BOTH DENIED ANY VIOLENCE OCCURRED… AND HE WAS JAILED ON A DOMESTIC ABUSE CHARGE.
A bystander’s emergency call and security video contradicted what a Louisiana couple initially told law enforcement.
Kody Lane Hayman, 22, was arrested on August 29, 2026.
Deputies booked him into the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office.
He was booked on one count of domestic abuse battery.
His bond was set at $2,500.
According to an affidavit of probable cause prepared by Deputy Blade Hicks, deputies became involved following a separate inquiry.
The West Monroe Police Department was investigating a separate firearm-related incident involving Hayman.
Authorities learned that Hayman had been at a local travel plaza.
While that investigation was underway, dispatch received a 911 call from a bystander at the travel plaza.
The caller reported an active domestic battery at the location.
Hayman reportedly left the plaza before deputies arrived.
Deputies located him a short time later.
During that encounter, deputies recovered a firearm from Hayman’s possession.
Authorities said the weapon was allegedly connected to the separate West Monroe investigation.
Deputies then advised Hayman of his Miranda rights.
After being advised of his rights, Hayman acknowledged that he and his girlfriend had engaged in a verbal dispute.
He told deputies they had been involved in an argument.

He also reportedly admitted that he had accidentally discharged his firearm once during an earlier incident.
But when questioned about physical violence, Hayman denied the allegation.
According to the affidavit, he insisted nothing physical had happened.
The woman offered deputies a matching account.
She reportedly told authorities that she had lived with Hayman for approximately 10 months.
She also denied that Hayman had battered her.
Investigators then obtained surveillance footage recorded at the travel plaza.
Deputies said the video captured Hayman and the woman arguing inside a vehicle.
The footage allegedly showed Hayman reaching across the center console.
Deputies said he struggled with the woman over her phone.
According to authorities, Hayman then exited the vehicle through the passenger side.
But deputies said the footage showed him lean back inside the vehicle.
He then struck the woman twice in the face with his right hand, according to deputies.
Both individuals had denied that a physical assault occurred.
Yet deputies relied on what they said was captured on surveillance video to support Hayman’s arrest.
Hayman was booked at approximately 10:02 a.m. on August 29 without further incident.
They had the 911 call.
They had the footage.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
