Arizona son who blew dying mom’s checks on mobile games while she lay covered in maggots charged with murder

In September 2025, hospice staff were called to a residence in Chandler, Arizona, to evaluate an elderly woman.

The call was placed after the woman’s son contacted nurses regarding her condition.

Inside the home, a responding nurse found the woman unresponsive.

Authorities described the physical and environmental conditions in which she was found as extremely poor.

The woman was transported from the residence to a care facility.

She died at the facility the following day.

The victim was identified by authorities as 84-year-old Mary Elenz.

Elenz died on September 20, 2025.

According to court documents, the room where Elenz was discovered was filled with trash, flies and fleas.

A bowl of cat food was located on her bed.

Blankets in the room had become stuck to her skin.

Maggots were crawling from open sores on her body, according to court records.

A nurse described the conditions as the “most horrific thing” they had ever seen.

Staff at the care facility reportedly continued removing bugs from Elenz’s body after she was admitted.

Investigators said Elenz had been living under the care of her 64-year-old son, Allen Page.

Page was responsible for both his mother’s personal care and her finances.

Investigators said Page knew his mother’s health was deteriorating.

Yet Page allegedly told relatives for weeks that his mother was fine.

Elenz’s family later alleged that Page stopped regularly changing her during the final month of her life.

Family members alleged that he also stopped feeding her, providing her with fluids and giving her medication during that time.

The family said Elenz developed severe bedsores as her condition rapidly declined.

The family also stated that she developed kidney problems during that final month.

Investigators said Page had not worked in years.

Page also served as his mother’s medical power of attorney, according to investigators.

Financial records allegedly showed Page repeatedly drained Elenz’s monthly Social Security payments shortly after they were deposited.

Elenz received approximately $1,567 per month in Social Security benefits.

Authorities said the money was spent on mobile games, fast food, Spotify and online gift cards.

Some of those online gift cards were sent to people Page communicated with online, authorities said.

Investigators also examined Page’s cellphone during the inquiry.

They found he had sent more than 70 outgoing messages around the time his mother was discovered.

Many of those outgoing messages were sexually explicit, according to investigators.

And after Elenz died, her family alleged Page failed to maintain payments connected to her final arrangements.

That failure left relatives to raise the money themselves to have her cremated and return her ashes to the family.

When investigators later asked Page whether he could have done anything differently, he allegedly acknowledged that he could have called for help sooner.

During a search of the Chandler home, investigators recovered four firearms from Page’s closet.

The seized weapons included one rifle and three handguns.

Authorities said Page is legally prohibited from possessing firearms because of a previous felony conviction.

On August 27, 2026, Page was arrested following an investigation that lasted nearly a year.

He was charged with second-degree murder.

He was charged with vulnerable adult abuse.

He was charged with four counts of misconduct involving weapons as a prohibited possessor.

Page is being held on a $1 million cash bond.

The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
