“I’LL SHOOT STRANGERS ON THE STREET”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, PROSECUTORS SAY 15-YEAR-OLD ISAIAH LAMAR GORDON UNPROVOKEDLY OPENED FIRE ON TWO WOMEN HE DID NOT KNOW OUTSIDE A DETROIT LIQUOR STORE, KILLING 65-YEAR-OLD FAITH WILLIAMS AND CRITICALLY INJURING HER NIECE BEFORE FIRING AT A PASSING VEHICLE.
On August 21, 2026, at around 11:10 p.m., police officers responded to a reported shooting at a liquor store in Detroit, Michigan.
The gunfire took place in the 15500 block of East Warren Avenue.
Upon arrival, responding officers found one woman suffering from a gunshot wound inside the establishment.
Officers discovered a second wounded woman outside the store.
The woman found inside was pronounced dead at the scene.
The surviving victim was transported to a hospital for emergency treatment.
Authorities identified the deceased victim as 65-year-old Faith Williams.
Williams suffered a gunshot wound to her left arm that traveled into her neck.
The surviving victim was identified as Williams’ 29-year-old niece, Katriana Cowan.
Cowan was critically injured in the shooting.
She remained in intensive care following surgical intervention.
That surgery required the medical team to remove part of Cowan’s skull.
Prosecutors said 15-year-old Isaiah Lamar Gordon allegedly fired a handgun at both Williams and Cowan.
According to prosecutors, Gordon did not know either of the two women.
Authorities have described the alleged shooting as unprovoked.
Law enforcement officials have not publicly disclosed a motive.
Then, Gordon allegedly fired his weapon at two people who were inside a passing vehicle.
Neither individual inside the passing car was reported injured.

Gordon fled the area immediately following the gunfire.
On August 22, 2026, Gordon’s brother surrendered the 15-year-old to police.
The surrender took place at Detroit’s Ninth Precinct.
Following the incident, the family of Faith Williams publicly asked for prayers.
The family requested prayers for themselves and Cowan, as well as for Gordon.
Lucinda Pearson, Williams’ sister, asked the public to pray for Gordon.
Pearson also urged continued support for Cowan during her recovery.
Williams’ children remembered their mother as someone who routinely helped other families.
They recalled that she frequently opened her home to people who needed somewhere to stay.
On August 29, 2026, criminal charges were formally filed against Gordon.
Gordon was charged with one count of first-degree murder.
He was charged with three counts of assault with intent to murder.
He was also charged with four counts of felony firearm.
The three assault with intent to murder charges stem from the shooting of Cowan and the alleged gunfire directed at the two occupants of the passing car.
Gordon was arraigned on the charges in 36th District Court.
Following his arraignment, Gordon was remanded to a juvenile detention facility.
But despite Gordon being 15 years old, prosecutors announced that he will be tried as an adult.
A probable-cause conference is scheduled for September 8, 2026.
A preliminary examination is scheduled to follow on September 15, 2026.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
