“I’LL SELL HER THE FENTANYL AND WHAT SHE DOES WITH IT AFTER THAT IS NOT MY PROBLEM”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY KATRINA ANN BROADDUS SUPPLIED THE FENTANYL THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEATH OF 36-YEAR-OLD KATELYN JEAN THALL… AND BROADDUS IS NOW CHARGED WITH FIRST-DEGREE MURDER.
What began with a locked Mazda left running on a Florida street has resulted in a first-degree murder charge nearly 10 months later.
On October 14, 2025, Hillsborough County deputies discovered 36-year-old Katelyn Jean Thall dead inside the vehicle.
The car was found in the 12000 block of Horseshoe Bend Drive in Lithia.
The Mazda was reportedly locked.
The vehicle was still running.
Inside Thall’s purse, investigators discovered paraphernalia along with a baggie containing a white powder.
A field test indicated that the substance contained fentanyl.
Subsequent laboratory testing was conducted on the evidence.
That laboratory testing reportedly identified fentanyl, carfentanil, cocaine and xylazine among the substances recovered during the investigation.
The toxicology findings were even more alarming.
Investigators said testing indicated approximately 18 times a lethal dose of fentanyl and carfentanil in connection with Thall’s death.
Detectives then began working backward to determine where the substances allegedly came from.

According to investigators, Thall met 40-year-old Katrina Ann Broaddus of Riverview on the evening of October 13.
That meeting occurred hours before Thall was discovered dead.
Authorities allege Thall obtained fentanyl from Broaddus following a pickup at Broaddus’s residence on Shining Willow Street.
And investigators also examined communications between the two women.
Detectives said phone messages dating back to May 2025 largely concerned the solicitation of drugs.
Authorities used those communications while building their case.
Months later, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Opioid Overdose Investigations unit executed a warrant on August 13, 2026.
Broaddus was arrested.
She was booked into the jail on Falkenburg Road.
She is charged with first-degree murder resulting from the unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.
Broaddus is currently being held without bond.
Prosecutors will now have to prove the allegations connecting Broaddus’s alleged distribution of the controlled substance to Thall’s death.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
