“I THOUGHT I COULD USE MY ACCESS AS HER COACH”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY FORMER INDIANA VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH RANDY “SCOTT” SULLIVAN EXPLOITED A 15-YEAR-OLD STUDENT-ATHLETE AND NOW FACES UP TO THREE YEARS IN PRISON UNDER A PLEA DEAL.
A former high school coach in Indiana has admitted to criminal charges involving a teenage athlete.
Randy “Scott” Sullivan served as the varsity girls basketball coach at Taylor High School in Kokomo.
Sullivan also worked as a groundskeeper at the school.
On Aug. 27, Sullivan entered a guilty plea under a plea agreement.
He admitted guilt to child solicitation.
He also pleaded guilty to dissemination of matter harmful to a child.
The case stems from the grooming and sexual exploitation of a 15-year-old student-athlete.
In September 2024, the investigation began.
School officials initiated the inquiry after learning of an inappropriate relationship between Sullivan and the student.
Sullivan was placed on leave following the report.
He was later terminated from his role.
School officials also banned him from all school properties.
Court records alleged Sullivan used his position of authority and access to the teenager.
That access included regularly driving her to and from practices.

He also drove her to and from school events.
According to court records, some of the alleged conduct occurred during those trips.
But during the initial investigation, Sullivan briefly disappeared before returning.
Authorities said an apology note was discovered inside his vehicle.
The note was addressed to his family.
The note was also addressed to his friends.
And it was addressed to the victim.
In October 2024, Sullivan surrendered to law enforcement.
He turned himself in to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office.
Sullivan was originally charged with child solicitation.
He was also originally charged with sexual battery.
His original charges also included dissemination of matter harmful to minors.
Then Sullivan entered into a plea agreement.
Under the agreement, Sullivan admitted guilt to child solicitation and dissemination of harmful material.
He now faces up to three years in prison.
Three years is the maximum penalty under the deal.
