Texas man Taylor Joe McCarty, accused of beating an elderly husband helping his fallen wife, has bond revoked

On Aug. 25, officers responded to an Odessa home after a reported assault.

An affidavit outlines what officers discovered when they arrived at the scene.

An elderly victim was outside the residence with his wife.

She had fallen to the ground.

The elderly man told investigators he was moving to help his wife up.

But he was suddenly accused of pushing another woman down.

The victim denied doing so.

He told investigators he had not pushed anyone.

Authorities said that the woman involved has a 28-year-old son.

Police identified that son as Taylor Joe McCarty of Odessa.

Authorities said McCarty allegedly jumped over a nearby fence.

And he began beating the elderly man.

The victim reportedly suffered multiple injuries in the attack.

He sustained cuts across his forehead.

He suffered cuts to his nose.

He suffered cuts to his ears.

Bruising covered his face.

He reportedly suffered a possible cracked rib.

The elderly man later went to Medical Center Hospital for evaluation.

Then local investigators received notice from federal authorities.

Investigators said the U.S. Federal Probation Office in Midland notified them about the incident.

The federal office told investigators that the alleged assault violated McCarty’s supervision from a previous case.

On Aug. 28, officers arrested the 28-year-old suspect.

McCarty was charged with assault on an elderly individual.

He was initially given a $75,000 bond.

That bond was later revoked.

McCarty was placed on a U.S. Marshals hold.

The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
