“THEY WERE JUST PHOTOS FROM THE INTERNET”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY 22-YEAR-OLD JACOB BAKER USED ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO GENERATE CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE MATERIAL FROM REAL VICTIMS’ IMAGES… AND HE HAS NOW BEEN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE EXPLOITATION CHARGES.
A 22-year-old Lafayette man has been arrested by law enforcement authorities.
Investigators say Jacob Baker used artificial intelligence to create child sexual abuse material.
The accused is 22 years old.
He allegedly generated the illicit content using photographs of real people.
Those individuals were minors when the original photos were taken, according to investigators.
Baker is now facing multiple child exploitation and CSAM charges.
The case follows an investigation that began in 2024.
The inquiry was initiated after several CyberTips were submitted by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Court documents say one user had allegedly uploaded suspected CSAM.
That same user had allegedly distributed the suspected CSAM online.
The alleged uploading and distribution occurred across at least three social media platforms.
Then investigators connected the activity to Baker.
Investigators subsequently obtained search warrants for accounts associated with the activity.
Authorities said they uncovered tens of thousands of images during the investigation.
The uncovered files included images of teenage girls.
Investigators believe those images of teenage girls had been taken from online posts.

Detectives later identified four victims whose photos were involved.
Their images were allegedly used to generate artificial CSAM.
All four victims are now adults.
Yet investigators said they were under 18 when the source images were taken.
When real children’s identities and images are used to create sexual material, those children can still be exploited long after the original photo was taken.
The case stands as a reminder that “AI-generated” does not necessarily mean victimless.
On Aug. 25, officers served search warrants at Baker’s apartment.
Officers seized multiple electronic devices from the apartment during that search.
And detectives said additional CSAM was later found saved on a tablet.
Baker now faces three counts of child exploitation.
He faces multiple counts of possession of CSAM.
He faces a charge of possession of child pornography.
The defendant also faces two drug-related misdemeanor charges.
They had the tips.
They had the accounts.
They had the devices.
Baker is charged, not convicted.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
