A Virginia high school teacher was arrested following a months-long investigation into the possible online solicitation of a child, police said.
Ronald Wayne England, 44, is an educator at Hanover High School, according to authorities.
The investigation began in June when Henrico Police received a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children regarding a possible child solicitation incident, detectives said.
Detectives then worked alongside the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police during the inquiry, authorities said.
Henrico Police executed a search warrant Thursday at a home in Highland Springs, according to investigators.
Officers arrested England following the search, police said.
The instructor was served with a warrant charging him with soliciting a child via the internet, according to law enforcement. Detectives noted that additional charges against the suspect may still be forthcoming, police said.
England has worked as a teacher at Hanover High School since 2018, according to Hanover County Public Schools. The educator previously worked for the district as a substitute teacher in 2017, officials said.
The district immediately placed the teacher on administrative leave without pay after learning of the arrest, administrators said.
School officials stated that they are cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation. The district is not currently aware of any incidents involving Hanover County students, according to officials.
England is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Oct. 30, court records show.
