An Alabama couple faces attempted murder and torture charges after their 15-year-old child arrived at a Florida hospital in critical condition, police said.
Eric Douglas McClure, 41, and Cynthia Danielle Tedder, 36, lived at a home on Titi Street, according to police.
Florida authorities alerted the Flomaton Police Department to the teen’s condition around 5:13 a.m. on September 1, records show.
Officers investigated the teen’s condition and searched the family’s home, police said. Investigators then obtained arrest warrants for both parents, records show.
Other children were living inside the residence, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Alabama’s Department of Human Resources took those children into protective custody, officials said.

A neighbor who had known the family for years told WEAR that roaches ran from the home. He had repeatedly seen the children dirty and smelling as if they had not bathed, the neighbor told the station.
Police initially charged McClure and Tedder with torture and willful abuse of a child under 18 by a responsible person.
Investigators upgraded the case to include attempted murder on September 2, police said. That charge came after police obtained new evidence, according to authorities.
Police have not released the teen’s specific injuries, investigators said.
Authorities have also not described the alleged acts behind the charges, according to police.
Both parents remained held without bond in Florida while awaiting extradition to Alabama, according to the latest public reports.
