A 33-year-old man is on trial accused of murdering his 24-year-old partner inside a Birmingham home, jurors heard.
Imran Uddin, 33, faces a murder charge at Birmingham Crown Court in the death of 24-year-old Ismail Younis.
On August 20, 2025, Ismail’s body was discovered inside a house on Richmond Road in Hockley, Birmingham, the court heard.
The defendant was subsequently arrested and charged with murder, prosecutors said. He denies the charge.
The relationship between the two men had reportedly deteriorated in the weeks before Ismail’s death, jurors heard.
The victim was autistic and had become increasingly controlled and frightened during the relationship, his mother told the court.
Uddin had taken away his shoes, damaged his phone and monitored where he went, she alleged.
Ismail had confided that he wanted to end the relationship, a friend told the jury.

Days before his death, Ismail allegedly said he wanted to get out and felt “suffocated.”
Around 1,000 messages were exchanged between the two men over just five hours on August 17, 2025, the court heard.
Some of those messages allegedly contained extremely violent threats, jurors heard.
Uddin, however, gave a very different account of what happened. Ismail attacked him with a knife during an argument in the bathroom, the defendant told the jury.
He feared being stabbed and tried to defend himself by grabbing Ismail’s wrist and putting his hand around his neck, Uddin said.
“I wanted to save my life. I didn’t want to get stabbed,” he told the court.
Uddin did not intend to kill Ismail and acted in self-defence, the defence argues.
The murder allegation remains contested, and the trial is continuing at Birmingham Crown Court.
