Texas bank employee Irma Martinez stole over $50,000 from customer through unauthorized debit transactions: cops

Irma Yessenia Martinez, 25, is a former employee of IBC Bank, investigators said.

Between September 29, 2025, and January 28, 2026, an IBC Bank customer allegedly lost over $50,000 tied to her account, police said.

On January 28, 2026, a regional manager began reviewing the account after the customer disputed numerous transactions she said she did not recognize. The customer lived in McAllen, Texas, investigators said.

The bank’s internal investigation allegedly determined that Martinez had unauthorized access to the account, police said.

The disputed activity occurred over several months and totaled more than $50,000, according to investigators.

On March 18, 2026, officers responded to the IBC Bank on San Bernardo Avenue in Laredo, Texas, after a bank representative reported the alleged theft.

Police then began investigating the transactions and the former employee’s alleged access to the account.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed how each transaction was completed. They have also not provided a full breakdown of the money allegedly taken.

A warrant was subsequently issued for Martinez following the investigation, police said.

On September 1, 2026, Martinez was arrested and charged with misapplication of fiduciary or financial property valued between $30,000 and $150,000, police said.

The charge is a third-degree felony in Texas. Martinez was booked into the Webb County Jail and later released after posting a $15,000 bond.

The case remains pending.
