What police found on Florida driver Jaden Storms accused of throwing car parts into rush-hour traffic

A Florida motorist was arrested after allegedly walking into rush-hour traffic and throwing car parts at passing vehicles, police said.

Jaden James Storms lives in Palm Springs, Florida, according to police records.

Officers responded to South Australian Avenue near Clearwater Drive on September 14 after receiving reports from callers, police said.

Callers had reported a man driving a gray Chrysler van recklessly through the area, police said. He was allegedly yelling at people and throwing objects from the vehicle, according to the affidavit.

The Chrysler van then broke down in a northbound lane during morning rush hour, police said.

The disabled vehicle quickly became a traffic hazard in the roadway, according to officers.

Storms repeatedly walked into active traffic lanes after the breakdown, the arrest affidavit states.

Motorists were forced to brake or take evasive action to avoid hitting him, according to court documents.

Police also allege he began throwing vehicle parts toward passing traffic, according to the affidavit.

He threw other large objects into the roadway, police said. The flying items created a danger for both drivers and pedestrians, according to the arrest affidavit.

When officers attempted to arrest him, Storms allegedly resisted while being handcuffed, police said.

A search conducted after the arrest uncovered a glass pipe containing residue in his pocket, officers said.

Storms was charged with culpable negligence, obstructing a highway, and disorderly conduct, according to court documents. He was also charged with resisting an officer without violence and possession or use of drug paraphernalia, police said.

He is scheduled to return to court on October 13.
