A 25-year-old former hotel guest sneaked into an occupied room and hid beneath a sleeping couple’s bed throughout the night, according to an arrest report.
Ritchel Calvaire, 25, was taken into custody after a responding officer found him still underneath the bed, the report states.
On September 10, 2026, officers responded to the Provident Doral hotel in Doral, Florida, after the couple reported finding an unknown man hiding in their room, police said.
The couple had checked into the hotel around 9 a.m. on September 9, according to the arrest report.
After entering the room, they closed the blinds covering the rear sliding glass door and eventually went to sleep, the report states.
During the early morning hours of September 10, the woman woke up after feeling movement near the bed, she told police. She then went back to sleep, according to the report.
Around 6:30 a.m., the woman woke up again after feeling movement coming from underneath the bed, she told investigators.
About an hour later, she began checking underneath the bed to make sure she had not left or misplaced any belongings, police said.
While looking underneath the bed, the woman allegedly discovered Calvaire hiding beneath it, the arrest report states.
The couple immediately left the room and contacted hotel security, according to the report.
When an officer responded to the room, Calvaire was still hiding underneath the bed, police said. He was taken into custody on the scene, the report states.

Investigators said the suspect had entered the occupied hotel room without permission at an unknown time, according to the report.
Police believe he jumped over a balcony fence and entered the room through the rear sliding glass door, the arrest report states.
Calvaire then concealed himself underneath the couple’s bed while they remained asleep inside the room throughout the night, the report states.
Investigators later learned that the defendant had previously stayed at the same hotel, police said.
Calvaire checked out of the property on August 31 under two separate reservations, at which point staff instructed him not to return, a hotel security manager told police. About two days later, the defendant allegedly returned to the hotel anyway, according to the report.
Hotel security gathered belongings Calvaire had left behind, gave them to him and escorted him off the property, police said.
The suspect later returned to the property again before allegedly entering the couple’s room and hiding underneath their bed, police said.
After his arrest, officers read Calvaire his Miranda rights, police said. He declined to speak with investigators without an attorney present, according to the report.
Calvaire was charged with one count of burglary of an occupied dwelling and one count of resisting an officer without violence, court records show.
The publicly available reporting does not specify what conduct led to the resisting charge, according to records.
As of September 11, Calvaire was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with his bond listed as pending, jail records show.
