Chilling details revealed as Lexington father Amancio Torres-Trevino gets 34 years for murdering infant son

A Kentucky father was sentenced to 34 years in prison for the murder and abuse of his infant son, according to Fayette Circuit Court records.

Amancio Torres-Trevino Jr., who resided at a home on Alumni Drive, received the term following the death of three-month-old Greyson Torres, court records show.

The infant victim was born on June 21, 2024, according to court records.

On September 29, officers responded to a Lexington hospital after the three-month-old arrived with life-threatening trauma, police said.

Investigators determined the physical abuse occurred inside the residence on Alumni Drive, according to police.

Torres-Trevino was alone with his son when the injuries that sent the child to the hospital took place, investigators said.

The boy’s injuries extended far beyond a single bruise, according to court testimony.

A Lexington detective later testified that the three-month-old had retinal hemorrhaging and bleeding behind his eyes, court records show.

The baby also suffered severe swelling of the brain and multiple brain bleeds, the detective testified.

Medical personnel also discovered that the child had sustained a fractured left arm, according to testimony. Further examination revealed additional fractures involving the boy’s leg and finger, court records show.

Court records stated that Greyson was intentionally abused by his father for the majority of his three months alive.

Investigators said the criminal mistreatment was not limited to the final day of the child’s life, according to police records.

Records reviewed by television station WKYT stated the infant endured intentional abuse from the father across most of his short life.

The child’s grandmother told reporters she had previously noticed a bruise on Greyson’s face, according to news reports. She questioned the explanation she was given for how a three-month-old baby sustained the mark, reporters stated.

On October 2, Greyson died from multiple blunt-force traumatic injuries caused by criminal abuse, the Fayette County Coroner said.

Lexington police subsequently charged Torres-Trevino and the boy’s mother, Kaela Walker, with murder and child abuse, according to police records.

On September 10, the judge sentenced Torres-Trevino to serve 30 years in prison for murder, court records show.

The court imposed an additional sentence of eight years for criminal abuse, according to sentencing records.

Four years of the abuse term will run at the same time as the murder sentence, court records state. The remaining four years run consecutively, bringing the total prison sentence to 34 years, according to court records.

Walker continues to face a separate criminal case stemming from the fatal abuse, prosecutors said. Authorities alleged she witnessed the abuse and failed to report it, according to court filings.

Her case remains pending, with her next status hearing scheduled for September 25, according to court reporting.
