A Portland man has been sentenced to 16½ years in prison in connection with the death of his girlfriend, according to court documents.
Jon French, 35, of Portland, was prosecuted in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Jeannie Enyeart.
In January 2024, Enyeart disappeared, triggering a missing-person investigation.
Her remains were later discovered in the back seat of a crashed vehicle near Stevenson, Washington.
An autopsy determined her death was a homicide.

French had previously faced a murder charge in connection with the death.
The defendant did not plead guilty to murder, however. Instead, French ultimately pleaded no contest to manslaughter and guilty to abuse of a corpse.
A no-contest plea to manslaughter allowed the court to convict and sentence him without requiring him to admit guilt to that charge.
On Monday, the judge sentenced French to 16½ years behind bars.
For Enyeart’s family, however, the number attached to the sentence does not change their loss.
Her sister said afterward that regardless of how much time French received, their family will never truly have justice because they will never get Jeannie back.
