Florida life coach Alexander Harrington stabbed his mother to death hours after posting forgiveness video: cops

A Florida life coach was arrested after allegedly stabbing his mother several times at their Delray Beach home, police said.

Alexander Harrington, 50, lived with his 77-year-old mother, Susan Baratto, at the residence.

The accused coach has since been charged with first-degree murder, according to court documents.

On Friday, September 11, Harrington reportedly called police around 2 p.m. and admitted that he had killed Baratto, according to a probable cause arrest affidavit.

Deputies with the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence, where they encountered the 50-year-old waiting outside.

Deputies then entered the home and located Baratto lying in the living room, according to the affidavit. She was covered in blood and suffering from multiple stab wounds, police said.

A knife was located on the ground next to her body. Baratto was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene, the affidavit states.

Police said that Harrington had sustained a laceration on his left arm.

The defendant spoke to paramedics about what happened while receiving treatment for the wound. “I killed my mom,” he allegedly confessed, per the affidavit.

Detectives then took Harrington in for an interview, according to the complaint.

During questioning, the suspect again allegedly admitted he stabbed his mother and called 911 to report the crime, police said.

A motive for the alleged slaying remains unclear, according to authorities.

The arrest affidavit viewed by Law & Crime did not provide any details regarding the events that led to the alleged murder.

Harrington allegedly told authorities that he has been sober since 2007. The defendant was previously diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and bipolar disorder, according to the affidavit.

The life coach had described himself on Facebook as an “intuitive healer,” according to his profile.

One day before he allegedly killed his mother, Harrington shared a post in which he called himself “one of Christ’s white knights.”

In that post, the suspect discussed the importance of forgiveness, records show.

“We have to forgive people from our past,” he said in a video.

The alleged attack occurred just hours after he posted the video espousing the importance of forgiveness, according to the report.

It is not currently clear if Harrington has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following his arrest, records show.

Harrington is currently being held in the Palm Beach County Jail without bond.

He is next scheduled to appear in court on November 5, court records show.
