A Texas high school educator was arrested after he allegedly engaged in an improper relationship with a student, according to authorities.
Jamie Corder is a former teacher at Venus High School in Venus, Texas.
Members of the Cleburne Police Department arrested Corder in Venus on September 3, authorities said.
Officers took him into custody after authorities were alerted to his alleged conduct, according to police.
He was booked into the Johnson County jail on a charge of an improper relationship between an educator and a student, according to Fox 4.
Bond for the former educator was later set at $1,000,000, records show.
In May 2025, Corder was named one of two Venus High School Teachers of the Year, according to a post on the school’s Facebook page.
He received the teaching honor during the same year the alleged incident took place, according to the outlet.
An indictment stated that Corder was accused of allegedly touching a female student inappropriately at the high school in December 2025, court records show.
It is not currently clear how many times the alleged touching occurred, court documents state.

The records do not show whether the victim was enrolled in any of his classes, according to the indictment.
Following the arrest, Venus ISD confirmed it learned of an allegation involving an employee, district officials said.
The school district added that administrators were cooperating fully with the investigation, according to an official statement.
Officials immediately placed Corder on administrative leave amid the investigation, the district said. He is no longer employed by the school system, administrators confirmed.
District leaders stated that they notified student families immediately after the allegations were made, according to officials.
The district also alerted the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, according to the statement.
Administrators additionally notified the State Board for Educator Certification regarding the claims, school officials said.
The school district did not share specific details on the timeline of when the alleged incident took place or when administrators learned of the claims. It is also unknown when Corder was removed from the classroom, records show.
The district did not disclose when parents and law enforcement officials were notified about the alleged incident, according to the report.
Cleburne police did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and the investigation into the case remains ongoing, officials said.
Corder is not currently listed on the county inmate roster, and he appears to no longer be in custody. It remains unclear whether he has entered a plea or retained legal counsel, according to records.
