“I NEED TO MAKE SURE YOUR HOME IS SAFE”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, POLICE SAY AN ON-DUTY BALTIMORE OFFICER OFFERED TO DRIVE A DOMESTIC-VIOLENCE VICTIM HOME, ORDERED HER SON OUTSIDE, AND RAPED HER IN UNIFORM… AND HE IS NOW JAILED WITHOUT BAIL ON MULTIPLE RAPE CHARGES.
Daniel Oxendine, 32, is an officer with the Baltimore Police Department.
On June 2, a woman called Baltimore Police following a domestic altercation.
She needed transportation back to Edgewood.
Oxendine received permission from a supervisor to drive the woman and her son home.
The transport was carried out in his assigned police vehicle.
According to court documents, Oxendine is accused of telling the victim that he needed to make sure her home was safe.
He is accused of entering her apartment.
Oxendine then allegedly ordered her son outside.
According to charging documents, he demanded a sex act from the woman.
He is accused of raping her inside the residence.
Authorities said the alleged assault took place while Oxendine was on duty.
He was wearing his police uniform at the time.
The woman reported the assault to authorities.
She went to a hospital to undergo a sexual-assault examination.
Investigators collected and preserved DNA evidence from that examination.
Investigators later stated that DNA evidence conclusively identified Oxendine.
According to investigators, testing showed only a one-in-40-octillion chance that the DNA came from someone else.

Oxendine allegedly told detectives he stayed at the residence for only 10 to 15 minutes.
He denied having any physical contact with the woman.
Yet security footage reportedly showed his assigned police vehicle outside her home for about 40 minutes.
Oxendine faces two counts of first-degree rape.
He faces two counts of second-degree rape.
He also faces two counts accusing a law-enforcement officer of engaging in a sexual act with a victim or witness.
In addition, Oxendine faces charges of burglary with intent to commit rape.
He is also charged with misconduct in office.
A court hearing took place on August 28.
A judge ordered Oxendine held without bail.
Baltimore Police said his police powers had already been suspended.
The department stated that he is now suspended without pay.
Detectives believe Oxendine may have committed similar offenses.
Investigators are currently reviewing earlier reports for possible connections.
Authorities have asked anyone who had contact with Oxendine or has relevant information to reach out.
