Pennsylvania felon Tylar Greenough accused of abducting ex and baby: ‘Essentially held the victims hostage for the entire weekend’

A Pennsylvania man is accused of climbing into his ex-girlfriend’s window and kidnapping her, her baby, and the woman’s grandmother.

Tylar Greenough, 30, is accused of holding all three victims against their will for days.

The Fayette County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that formal criminal charges have been filed against him.

Greenough is charged with kidnapping to inflict injury or terror, according to prosecutors.

He is also charged with aggravated assault.

On August 28, the incident began in Uniontown, per CBS News.

Authorities said Greenough reached the residence from the exterior.

“He came in through a second-story window using a ladder and essentially held the victims hostage for the entire weekend,” Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele told CBS News.

Greenough entered the residence in violation of an active restraining measure.

Greenough entered his ex-girlfriend’s home that day while “subject to an active protection from abuse order,” the district attorney’s office said in a Tuesday, September 1, news release.

Police said Greenough became enraged over a relationship involving his ex-girlfriend.

“His ex-girlfriend stated he was upset because she had an intimate relationship with another male,” police wrote in documents obtained by CBS News.

According to charging documents, Greenough issued graphic threats against the victims’ lives.

“She stated that Greenough expressed a desire to have her watch everyone get killed before he killed her.”

The woman and her grandmother were assaulted by Greenough during the incident, per CBS News.

Authorities stated that the physical abuse occurred across multiple sites.

Greenough allegedly assaulted the woman and her grandmother at her home and a local hotel, authorities said.

Then the alleged abduction expanded into a moving vehicle.

Greenough is additionally accused of making the woman coordinate a meet-up with the man she had been seeing, according to police.

He also allegedly forced the woman to drive to that encounter, per CBS News.

The woman’s infant child and grandmother were forced to accompany them in the vehicle.

Police said Greenough forced her grandmother and baby to remain in the trunk of her car.

The woman followed his orders and drove the vehicle to the arranged meeting location.

Greenough remained positioned inside the vehicle when the other man arrived.

“The victim stated that the other male did enter the passenger seat of the vehicle and Tylar Greenough attempted to grab the male from the back seat,” police wrote in the documents viewed by CBS News.

But the confrontation quickly shifted as the other man pulled away.

Police wrote in the documents that the male exited the vehicle and began to flee from the vehicle.

Greenough then forced the woman out of the driver’s seat, according to police records.

Police wrote that Greenough then got into the driver’s seat of the car.

The victim stated that he attempted to strike the male with the vehicle unsuccessfully, court documents showed.

Afterward, Greenough allegedly tried to run over the man, according to an affidavit viewed by People.

Greenough is also accused of forcing his ex-girlfriend to file a report accusing the man of sexual abuse, police wrote in the affidavit, per People.

Greenough ultimately brought the woman, her grandmother and child back to her Uniontown home, according to police.

The three victims remained held against their will through the remainder of the weekend.

On August 31, the woman and grandmother alerted law enforcement of the alleged kidnapping, per People.

They contacted authorities after Greenough had gone to work.

On Tuesday, Greenough was arrested after the district attorney’s office said he entered his ex-girlfriend’s home again that afternoon.

His ex-girlfriend was not at the residence at the time.

Greenough was armed with a gun when he arrived, according to the district attorney’s office.

He was not allowed to possess firearms in Pennsylvania due to a prior felony conviction.

Prosecutors stated that Greenough caused extensive damage inside the home upon his return.

Aubele told CBS News that authorities believed he “trashed” his ex-girlfriends house and threw “cleaning supplies because he was upset because she had gone to the police.”

And he was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon.

He had climbed in using a ladder.

He had held three victims hostage for days.

He had returned with a gun.

Information regarding whether he had retained legal representation wasn’t immediately available.

The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
