A confrontation inside a Wisconsin senior living facility ended with a vulnerable resident dead.
It ended with the employee responsible for pushing her heading to prison.
In 2022, the deadly encounter occurred at Story Point Senior Living.
The 76-year-old woman was reportedly living in a memory care unit at the facility.
Abrianna Clark was working at the facility at the time.
Clark was 28 years old.
According to the investigation, the dispute allegedly began over a ruler.
Clark maintained that the elderly resident initiated the confrontation.
Investigators said the resident struck Clark with the ruler.
The strike broke Clark’s glasses.
Clark responded to the blow.
She pushed the elderly woman.
But prosecutors say this wasn’t a minor shove.
The 76-year-old fell to the floor.
She suffered a devastating fracture to her left femur and hip area.
The injury produced severe complications.
They were complications from which she would not recover.
The 76-year-old woman later died.
The Ozaukee County Medical Examiner investigated the cause of death.
The medical examiner determined that the woman’s death resulted from “complication of left hip fracture” stemming from the push.

What happened immediately afterward became a significant part of the prosecution’s case.
According to a staff member, Clark repeatedly admitted what she had done.
The coworker reported that Clark allegedly said “I pushed her” approximately five times following the incident.
Then prosecutors said Clark attempted to discourage her coworkers from revealing what happened.
She warned fellow staff members not to speak.
She allegedly warned: “If anybody snitch on me, I’m going to get on that.”
But when police became involved, investigators said Clark’s account changed.
Her story shifted when speaking with law enforcement.
Rather than acknowledging that she had pushed the resident, Clark allegedly told authorities that the woman had simply fallen in the bathroom.
Investigators ultimately rejected that explanation.
Clark maintained that the elderly resident initiated the confrontation by hitting her with a ruler and breaking her glasses.
Yet the court held Clark criminally responsible for her response to a 76-year-old woman living in a memory care facility.
The case resulted in criminal charges.
Clark was convicted of second-degree reckless homicide.
The sentencing phase followed the conviction.
Clark has now been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
She was also sentenced to another 10 years of extended supervision.
She faces a decade behind bars.
