Ohio felon Timothy Reaggle bolted from court moments after sentencing — leaving two deputies with broken bones before being Tasered

A 20-year-old felon injured two deputies while attempting to flee an Ohio courthouse moments after he was sentenced to prison, authorities said.

Timothy J. Reaggle, 20, was in Columbiana County Court on Monday after learning he would serve a one-year prison term, WKBN reported.

A bailiff was escorting the convict down a hallway when the breakout began, according to the station.

Surveillance footage from the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office captured the incident, the outlet reported.

Reaggle suddenly freed himself from his handcuffs while the bailiff walked behind him, video shows. He then spun around and punched the bailiff in the throat before sprinting down the corridor, according to footage obtained by the station.

The 20-year-old inmate bolted directly toward another deputy, according to the recording.

Reaggle lowered his shoulder and plowed into the officer, knocking him straight to the floor, video shows.

He then dashed toward a stairwell as a deputy gave chase, according to the footage.

The fleeing convict stumbled at the bottom of the stairs directly into the arms of a third deputy, the video shows.

Reaggle managed to wriggle free from the deputy’s grasp and sprinted toward the front doors, according to the footage.

An officer fired a Taser from behind just as the prisoner reached the courthouse exit, video shows.

Three deputies immediately converged on Reaggle near the doorway, according to the recording. One officer appeared to place the inmate in a chokehold while the group subdued and detained him, video shows.

The footage captured other people hurrying over to assist the injured deputies, the station reported.

One deputy was seen lying on the floor with blood coming from his head, according to the recording. He held a paper towel against his face following the struggle, video shows.

Both deputies suffered broken bones during the confrontation, Columbiana County Sheriff Brian McLaughlin told WFMJ.

The injured officers were taken to a hospital for treatment and have since been discharged, McLaughlin told the station.

The Monday court appearance stemmed from an earlier case dating back to February 2025, according to court records.

In that incident, Reaggle allegedly forced his way into a residence while three people were inside, court records state.

The intruder allegedly assaulted or threatened the occupants once inside the home, according to court documents.

Reaggle was also accused of aggravated menacing after allegedly causing a resident to fear serious harm to himself or his property, records show.

He allegedly fled from police in a motor vehicle after officers signaled for him to pull over, according to court filings.

Reaggle had initially entered a plea of not guilty to the charges, court records state. He later withdrew that plea during a court appearance on July 13, according to records.

The defendant pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated menacing, failure to comply and two counts of assault, court records show.

Several of those counts had been reduced from the original charges filed against him, according to court records.

The judge ordered Reaggle to serve one year in state prison on Monday, moments before the corridor attack, WKBN reported.

Reaggle had not yet been formally charged in connection with the Monday courthouse escape, authorities said.

McLaughlin told WFMJ that prosecutors will likely charge the 20-year-old with felony escape and assault on a police officer.

The convict will eventually be transferred to a state correctional facility to serve his term, McLaughlin said.

Reaggle is being held at the Columbiana County Jail while the case remains pending, McLaughlin said.
