Director Lexi Alexander sparks fierce outrage after cheering Times Square murder of Erin Piacenti — sharing Luigi Mangione meme

A 52-year-old Palestinian-American filmmaker celebrated the fatal Times Square stabbing of a young bank executive by posting an online meme featuring an alleged killer, social media posts show.

Lexi Alexander, 52, is a director and former world champion martial artist born in Germany to a German mother and Palestinian father, according to her website.

On Monday afternoon, 32-year-old Erin Piacenti was fatally stabbed in the abdomen with a kitchen knife near Times Square, police said.

Piacenti had just finished her first day back at work following a five-month maternity leave, records show.

She died at a hospital following the stabbing, according to authorities. Police described the deadly encounter as a “random and unprovoked” attack, officials said.

Pamela Cisneros, 49, allegedly stabbed Piacenti and another man during the incident, according to police.

Cisneros was identified as a mentally ill woman, officials said. NYPD officers shot Cisneros dead at the scene, according to police.

Piacenti had graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and Fordham Law School, records show.

The young mother had risen to a vice president position at Bank of America, according to the report.

She had moved to a quiet New Jersey suburb, records show. Just last month, she celebrated her second anniversary with her husband, Frank Piacenti, according to the report.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague,” a Bank of America spokesperson said in a statement.

“She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones,” the spokesperson added.

On Tuesday, Alexander posted an image on social media of Batman staring up at a bat signal replaced with the face of alleged CEO-killer Luigi Mangione, records show.

The director shared the meme directly in response to another post identifying Piacenti as a Bank of America vice president, according to the posting.

The filmmaker appeared to celebrate the death of the young executive through the meme, the report stated.

Alexander claimed in a comment on her post that Israeli “bots” were “out in full swing just like the first time we asked people to boycott BofA,” according to the post.

The director shared a link to a January Haaretz article about the financial firm’s recommendation to invest in Israeli banks, records show.

“Israel doesn’t care about the woman who got killed, they care about the positive rating BofA gave them in the middle of a genocide. There is huge money at stake,” Alexander said in a post later Wednesday.

The post received almost 400,000 views by Wednesday afternoon, according to platform metrics. Numerous users immediately blasted the director for cheering the murder of an innocent woman in her prime, posts show.

“A young woman was murdered while innocently walking down the street, and you are celebrating,” one user wrote. “You are absolute human garbage, and I suspect you know that deep-down.”

“Your anger is targeted at the wrong person,” another commenter posted.

“You know you’ve lost the plot when your politics are indistinguishable from that of a crazy woman that attacks random people with knives,” another user wrote.

In 1994, Alexander became a world kickboxing champion at the age of 19, according to her website.

She initially worked as a stuntwoman following her martial arts career, records show. She subsequently transitioned into directing films, according to her website.

The filmmaker directed the cult classic movie “Green Street Hooligans,” records show.

In 2003, she was nominated for “Best Short Film, Live Action” at the 75th Academy Awards for the drama “Johnny Flynton,” according to official records.

Alexander has been outspoken in her criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza following the outbreak of the war with Hamas in October 2023, according to reports.

Representatives for Alexander did not immediately respond to a request for comment, according to the report.
