A California prison inmate convicted for his role in two 1969 killings carried out by the Charles Manson inner circle has died in custody, records show.
Bruce Davis, 83, died Friday at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville.
His cause of death has not been publicly released, according to prison records.
The inmate was serving a life sentence for his involvement in the killings of musician Gary Hinman and stuntman Donald “Shorty” Shea.
Davis acknowledged participating in the attack on Shea, including cutting him with a knife, records show.
The convict was also convicted in connection with Hinman’s killing, although accounts of precisely who was present during different stages of that crime have varied.

Davis was considered a close member of the notorious Manson Family. But he was not involved in the Tate-LaBianca murders that killed seven people, including actress Sharon Tate, in August 1969.
Davis had been a longtime member of Charles Manson’s inner circle, according to prison records.
The inmate spent more than five decades incarcerated following his convictions for the two 1969 slayings.
Davis was repeatedly recommended for parole over the years, state records show.
California governors repeatedly blocked or reversed his release. He never walked out of prison.
He was recommended for parole multiple times, but after more than half a century behind bars, the convict’s life sentence effectively became exactly that life.
Davis ultimately died Friday while still in state custody at age 83, records show.
