An Alabama woman was arrested on a murder charge after a 70-year-old woman was found dead in a community swimming pool, police said.
Anastasia Tsefia Sudarsana, 30, of Hoover, was taken into custody following the Thursday night incident, according to police.
Hoover police officers were dispatched to the community pool on Little Valley Road around 9:32 p.m. on Sept. 3, authorities said.
The emergency response followed a 911 call reporting an unresponsive person in the water, police said.
Life-saving efforts were attempted at the scene. The 70-year-old woman was pronounced dead despite those measures, according to police.
Evidence recovered at the scene indicated that a physical struggle occurred shortly before the woman died, police said.

Detectives located Sudarsana nearby, according to police.
Investigators later determined that the suspect and the victim knew each other, police said.
Authorities have not revealed what may have led to the alleged struggle. What allegedly occurred between the two before the victim ended up in the pool has not been made public, police said.
The name of the 70-year-old victim has been withheld pending notification of her family, according to police.
The medical examiner has not announced an official cause or manner of death, according to officials.
Investigators presented evidence from the scene to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, police said.
A murder warrant with no bond was issued for Sudarsana, according to police.
