A North Dakota police officer is under internal investigation after being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, department officials said.
Officer Walker Koropatnicki has worked for the West Fargo Police Department since 2024.
On Saturday, Sept. 5, a North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper pulled Koropatnicki over during the early morning hours, according to authorities.
The trooper subsequently arrested the officer on a DUI charge, police said.
West Fargo Police placed Koropatnicki on paid administrative leave following the stop. Chief Pete Nielsen is overseeing the internal investigation and any additional departmental proceedings, the department said.
The patrolman is now facing an internal investigation from his own department, according to officials.
Authorities have not yet publicly released additional details surrounding the traffic stop. Officials have not disclosed what led the trooper to pull Koropatnicki over or whether he submitted to a breathalyzer test, according to police.
The officer is accused and has not been convicted of the charge, according to authorities.
Koropatnicki remains on paid administrative leave while the internal review and departmental proceedings continue, police said.
