Asia Zolliecoffer found unclothed near Texas fire before dying: ‘Asia wasn’t just some Jane Doe lying in a hospital’

A 21-year-old East Texas woman died following mysterious circumstances after being found unconscious on private property last month, according to a close friend.

Asia Zolliecoffer, 21, was discovered in Rusk County on August 15, friend Audrey Chumley said.

The young woman was found unclothed on private property, according to Chumley.

A fire was burning in or near the area where she was located, Chumley said.

She was transported to a hospital as an unidentified Jane Doe, according to her friend.

Loved ones did not learn that the 21-year-old was at the hospital until hours later, Chumley said. They have since been left with questions about the circumstances surrounding her discovery.

Family and friends have questioned how Zolliecoffer was found, according to Chumley.

Relatives also questioned why she initially remained unidentified at the facility, Chumley said.

Loved ones are seeking answers regarding what happened during the hours before she was discovered, according to her friend.

Questions also remain concerning what happened to her clothing, phone and other belongings, Chumley said.

There had previously been concerns and allegations of abuse involving a relationship the young woman was in, according to Chumley.

Those allegations and several circumstances described by Chumley have not been independently verified, according to the report. No individual has been accused of causing Zolliecoffer’s death.

The family’s goal is not for the public to determine guilt, Chumley said. Instead, loved ones want the circumstances surrounding her death to receive a complete investigation.

“This isn’t about rumors,” Chumley said in a statement. “It’s about finding out the truth.”

Chumley is asking investigators to examine the property where the 21-year-old was found, according to her statement.

She is also urging authorities to look into the reported fire, Chumley said.

Investigators should examine Zolliecoffer’s clothing and personal belongings, according to her friend.

Chumley also asked authorities to review the young woman’s phone, communications, and the timeline leading up to her discovery, according to the statement.

She urged anyone who may have seen or spoken with the 21-year-old during her final hours to provide information to investigators, Chumley said.

Zolliecoffer was eventually identified and remained hospitalized, according to the report. A fundraiser organized by Chumley on behalf of the family stated that she was placed on life support.

The young woman was an organ donor as loved ones prepared to say goodbye, according to the fundraiser.

Chumley sat beside her friend in the intensive care unit and held her hand, according to the report.

Friends are asking anyone who may have firsthand information about what happened on August 15 or the hours leading up to her discovery to provide that information directly to law enforcement, according to Chumley.

Her friends said they intend to keep speaking the 21-year-old’s name and asking for answers.
