BELIEVE IT OR NOT, POLICE SAY A CAPE COD WOMAN FREED ON PERSONAL RECOGNIZANCE AFTER A DRUG ARREST WAS CAUGHT ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER WITH TRAFFICKING-LEVEL QUANTITIES OF FENTANYL AND COCAINE… AND SHE IS NOW BEING HELD ON DANGEROUSNESS.
Tara Cooke is 42 years old.
She is a resident of Cape Cod.
In mid-August, police placed her under arrest following a narcotics raid.
Officers from both the Yarmouth and Dennis police departments took part in that initial operation.
They executed a search warrant at a residence located on Mayfair Road in Dennis.
Detectives searched the home for contraband.
According to detectives, the search produced approximately 14.5 grams of cocaine.
Police said they also recovered fentanyl inside the Dennis residence.
Officers reported finding Alprazolam during the same search.
Detectives also seized $147 in cash.
Cooke was formally charged with four separate drug-related offenses following that search.
Authorities charged her with possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
She was charged with possession of fentanyl.
She was charged with possession of Alprazolam.
Authorities also charged Cooke with conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Her boyfriend, 44-year-old Jasen Adkins, was arrested during the same Dennis raid.
Adkins was ordered held without bail.
But Cooke was released on personal recognizance.
Then came a second police investigation.
Roughly two weeks after the Dennis arrest, investigators turned their attention back to Cooke.
Investigators said they observed Cooke conducting what they suspected to be a drug transaction.
Authorities subsequently secured and executed another search warrant.

This second operation targeted a residence located in South Yarmouth.
Detectives searched the home alongside a narcotics-detection K-9.
Inside, investigators and the police dog allegedly uncovered hundreds of grams of illicit narcotics.
They allegedly found 256 grams of fentanyl.
They allegedly seized 179 grams of cocaine.
Officers allegedly uncovered an additional 32 grams of cocaine.
They also allegedly discovered five counterfeit Adderall pills that had been manufactured using methamphetamine.
Detectives located drug-packaging materials inside the residence.
They also seized distribution equipment.
In addition to the narcotics and supplies, police seized $2,767 in cash.
Police said Cooke spoke with investigators regarding the seized money.
According to police, Cooke told investigators the cash was money she was trying to raise to bail her boyfriend out of jail.
Authorities placed Cooke under arrest once again.
Prosecutors brought a new set of felony charges in connection with the South Yarmouth bust.
Cooke was charged with trafficking 200 grams or more of fentanyl.
She was charged with trafficking 200 grams or more of cocaine.
Authorities also charged her with conspiracy to violate drug laws.
This time, Cooke was not released on personal recognizance.
She was brought before a judge for an arraignment on the trafficking charges.
Following her arraignment, Cooke was ordered held on dangerousness.
It marked her second arrest in a span of roughly two weeks.
And the second case allegedly involved dramatically larger quantities of narcotics than the first.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
