A 30-year-old Virginia man is in custody following an investigation into a late-August shooting in Roanoke.
On Aug. 31, officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Orange Avenue.
The emergency response came after police received a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police said responding officers immediately began providing medical aid to the victim.
The victim was subsequently transported to a hospital.
The victim is listed in stable condition.

Detectives began working the case to identify the person responsible for the gunfire.
During the investigation, detectives said information they gathered connected Richard Alan Eary, 30, to the shooting.
Then investigators took Eary into custody.
On Sept. 1, Eary was arrested.
He was formally charged with malicious wounding.
Eary is currently being held in jail.
Yet police have not released additional details about what allegedly led to the shooting.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
