BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY A GEORGIA CORRECTIONS SPECIAL AGENT ACCESSED A LICENSE PLATE READER FOR NON-LAW-ENFORCEMENT PURPOSES… AND HE IS NOW BEHIND BARS IN PUTNAM COUNTY.
Robert “Bobby” Michael Keim, 45, of Eatonton, was arrested on Monday.
Keim served as a special agent in charge with the Georgia Department of Corrections.
His arrest followed an inquiry conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
That inquiry began after state prison officials flagged improper activity inside their network.
On Aug. 18, the Department of Corrections reported that its Flock system had been misused.
Then the agency asked the GBI to open a criminal investigation into the matter.
Investigators allege Keim accessed or used the Flock Safety license plate reader system for non-law-enforcement purposes.
They specifically allege he used the camera network for tasks unrelated to legitimate law-enforcement activity.

Keim is charged with misuse of a license plate reader system.
He was taken into custody following the state probe.
He is currently behind bars.
Authorities confirmed he is being held in the Putnam County Jail.
And the GBI stated that the investigation remains ongoing.
State officials have not publicly confirmed whether Keim has been fired.
It also remains unconfirmed whether he has been otherwise removed from his Department of Corrections post.
Keim is charged, not convicted.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
