An Oregon fiancé has entered a plea deal after his partner was killed with a coffee mug, according to court records.
Jon French, 35, entered the plea in Oregon following the death of his 47-year-old fiancée, Jeannie Enyeart.
The defendant pleaded no contest to manslaughter and guilty to abuse of a corpse, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors had originally charged French with murder, according to court documents.
In January 2024, Enyeart disappeared after she and French were scheduled to move and retrieve belongings from a storage unit, family members said.
While his fiancée was missing, French publicly acted like a worried partner and pleaded for her safe return. He posted messages on Facebook begging her to come home, records show.
“You are my queen,” French wrote in one online post, according to police.
The suspect also reportedly told police he believed a drug dealer had kidnapped Enyeart, authorities said.
Two days after she disappeared, deputies in Washington found the couple’s Kia Soul abandoned in a snowbank roughly 40 miles from Portland, police said.

The vehicle was initially towed without anyone realizing that Enyeart’s body was inside. Police later discovered the victim concealed in the back of the vehicle, investigators said.
A road worker also reportedly encountered French after the car became stuck in the snow and helped him reach a relative’s home, authorities said.
An autopsy later determined that the 47-year-old died from blunt-force trauma, according to the medical examiner.
During that examination, investigators reportedly recovered a ceramic fragment from a coffee mug from the victim’s body, according to reports.
Back at the couple’s home, investigators found a broken coffee mug inside the bedroom. Detectives also documented suspected blood on the walls, police said.
Deputies arrested French several days after finding Enyeart’s remains, records show.
French killed his sister because she had called off their wedding and planned to move out, the victim’s brother said he believes.
Under the plea agreement, the original murder charge was reduced to manslaughter, court documents show.
French faces at least 10 years in prison when he is sentenced on Sept. 14, according to prosecutors.
