A 30-year-old woman has been arrested after prosecutors alleged that she knowingly exposed multiple people to HIV.
According to authorities, Kendra Wotford learned she had the virus years earlier.
Her diagnosis dates back to 2018.
Prosecutors allege that Wotford knew her medical status.
And prosecutors allege that she subsequently entered into sexual relationships without disclosing her diagnosis to her partners.
Authorities say the consequences of those relationships extended further.
During this period, Wotford reportedly became pregnant.
She did not receive prenatal medical care during her pregnancies.
She also did not receive medical treatment for HIV.
Prosecutors allege that both of her babies were ultimately born with HIV.
One of the children was reportedly born prematurely.
But the alleged exposures were not limited to the infants.

The children’s father was also allegedly exposed to the virus.
Several other individuals were allegedly exposed as well.
Authorities say multiple people contracted HIV.
In July 2026, Wotford was taken into custody.
She was arrested on failure-to-appear warrants.
Authorities also booked her on multiple charges related to the alleged exposures.
The case highlights a distinction between living with HIV and the criminal conduct alleged by prosecutors.
Modern HIV treatment can suppress the virus to an undetectable viral load.
Effective treatment allows people living with HIV to live long, healthy lives.
A person who maintains an undetectable viral load through effective treatment does not sexually transmit HIV.
Yet the criminal allegations in this case concern Wotford’s alleged prior knowledge of her diagnosis.
They concern her alleged failure to disclose her status to partners.
