An 18-year-old Kentucky woman allegedly shot a man in the face and head while he lay on a couch, investigators said.
Authorities identified the suspect as 18-year-old Trinity Bucker.
On September 6, 2026, deputies responded to a shooting inside a residence near Houston Antioch Road in Bourbon County, Kentucky, according to deputies.
Upon arrival, deputies found an 18-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, records show.
The victim was identified as 18-year-old Brandon Williams Jr., officials said.
Brandon was lying on a couch when Bucker allegedly fired a gun inside the residence and struck him in the face and head, according to investigators.
Another person was sitting next to the couch when the gun was fired and was also directly downrange from the weapon, deputies said.
Accounts of what happened immediately before the gunfire conflicted, investigators said.
The suspect allegedly told deputies the shooting was an accident.

However, the second person who witnessed the shooting gave investigators a different account. According to deputies, the witness said Bucker racked a round into the firearm and then fired while pointing the gun toward Brandon.
Bucker was arrested following the shooting, authorities said.
The teenager was initially charged with first-degree assault in connection with Brandon being shot and first-degree wanton endangerment involving the discharge of a firearm because the second person was allegedly in the line of fire, records show.
Brandon survived the initial shooting but died two days later, officials said.
On September 15, the Fayette County Coroner’s Office confirmed that his cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities had not publicly announced any murder, manslaughter or other homicide charge against Bucker following Brandon’s death. The first-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment charges remained the publicly reported charges against her, records show.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed what allegedly led up to the shooting, a possible motive, Bucker’s relationship to Brandon, whose residence the shooting occurred inside or who owned the firearm, deputies said.
The identity of the second person who witnessed the shooting has also not been released, officials said.
Bucker is scheduled to appear in court on September 18 at 10 a.m.
