A Missouri man faces up to life in prison after being convicted of repeatedly sexually abusing a child, according to court records.
Korey D. Owens, 33, is of Jefferson City.
A jury found Owens guilty of two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy in a case that dates back to 2015, records show.
The investigation began when the victim was just 5 years old, according to court records.
The child was removed from the home where the victim lived with Owens and the child’s mother, Brook Strange. Authorities eventually charged both Owens and Strange in 2018, records show.
More than a decade after that investigation began, the victim took the stand at trial, court records show.

The teenager, who is 16 years old today, testified about suffering repeated sexual abuse by Owens as a child.
The jury convicted Owens on the charges, according to court records.
Owens is now being held in the Cole County Jail while awaiting his sentencing hearing, records show. The defendant faces up to life in prison.
The child’s mother also has a case of her own, according to court records.
Strange pleaded guilty Aug. 28 to four counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, records show. She faces up to 28 years in prison.
Strange will be sentenced on Nov. 25, the same day Owens is scheduled for sentencing, court records show.
