“YOU DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, POLICE SAY A COMMUTER RELIEVING HIMSELF ON A BUSY TIMES SQUARE SUBWAY PLATFORM STABBED AN MTA CLEANER WHO SCOLDED HIM… AND THE SUSPECT REMAINS ON THE LOOSE AFTER FLEEING ON A TRAIN.
The violent platform encounter unfolded at a major transit hub in Midtown Manhattan, according to the NYPD and law enforcement sources.
On Monday, a straphanger was relieving himself directly on the subway platform.
The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. inside the bustling Times Square station.
A transit cleaner, identified as a 30-year-old man, noticed the commuter and scolded him, according to police.
Then the commuter flew into a rage.
He started physically fighting with the transit worker right on the platform, police said.
The fight escalated when the commuter stabbed the worker in the left arm.
Police reported that the stabbing left the cleaner with a severe cut.
Emergency medical personnel transported the worker to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.
He was listed in stable condition upon arrival at the hospital.
In July of 2023, the worker had begun his employment with the MTA.
By Thursday, the transit cleaner was treated and released from the hospital, according to the transit agency.
But the assailant managed to escape immediately after the stabbing.

Police said the man hopped on board a southbound No. 1 train to get away.
The suspect remained on the loose as of Thursday, according to authorities.
Surveillance footage from the transit system was subsequently released by the NYPD.
The released footage shows the bespectacled, goateed straphanger riding on the train.
He was also seen carrying a backpack.
“It’s unacceptable that someone would attack a transit worker doing their job to improve the lives of New York subway riders,” Bill Amarosa Jr., the MTA’s executive vice president of subways, said in a statement.
“Thank goodness that cleaner appears to be recovering rapidly—and thanks to the NYPD for aggressively investigating,” Amarosa added.
“Transit cameras captured the perpetrator on video, and when he’s apprehended the justice system should make sure maximum consequences are delivered.”
And authorities are appealing to the public for help locating the assailant.
