An Ohio driver has been sentenced to between six and nine years in prison for a 2025 crash that killed another driver, authorities said.
Michael Morgan, 58, was sentenced Sept. 1 after pleading no contest to aggravated vehicular homicide and OVI charges, court records show.
The defendant crossed the center line while impaired before slamming into the oncoming vehicle, authorities said.
Morgan’s Ram pickup crossed the center line on State Route 146 and slammed into a Ford Explorer, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The other driver died on impact, troopers said.
Morgan exhibited bloodshot eyes and slurred his speech after the crash, troopers said.

A subsequent urine test showed an alcohol result of 0.136, according to investigators.
The screening also revealed the presence of alprazolam, police said. Morgan admitted taking the prescription medication.
The defendant told investigators he crossed the center line while reaching for gummy bears he had dropped inside the truck, records show.
His defense attorneys tried to suppress the intoxication evidence, but the judge denied the request. Morgan then pleaded no contest and was found guilty on all four charges, court records show.
Along with the prison sentence, the 58-year-old faces up to three years of mandatory supervision after his release, authorities said.
The court also imposed a lifetime driver’s license suspension against the defendant, records state.
The victim was described as a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend who dedicated much of her life to helping foster children, her family said.
