BELIEVE IT OR NOT, POLICE SAY JOSEPH CHLEBANOWSKI AND ZYRIA WALKER ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF WALKER’S TWO-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER WHO WAS FOUND WITHOUT A PULSE WITH A BRAIN BLEED AND BRUISES… AND BOTH NOW FACE MURDER AND CHILD-ABUSE CHARGES IN OKLAHOMA.
On August 15, Edmond police officers responded to an emergency call at a residence in the 600 block of Vista Lane in Edmond, Oklahoma.
First responders discovered a 2-year-old girl who was without a pulse.
Medical personnel determined that the child had suffered a brain bleed.
Examinations also revealed that the girl had brain swelling.
Investigators documented new bruises across the child’s body.
Hospital staff stated that those specific bruises were not present on the toddler three days earlier.
Police said two other children were present inside the home at the time.
Paramedics at the scene were able to restore the 2-year-old girl’s pulse.
Yet, three days later, on August 18, the child died from her injuries.
Investigators interviewed 26-year-old Joseph Chlebanowski about what occurred inside the residence.
Chlebanowski told investigators that he was alone with the 2-year-old girl and the two other children while her mother was at work.
He told police that the toddler had been napping on a couch before she began gasping.
The child’s mother, 22-year-old Zyria Walker, also spoke with investigators.
Walker told investigators that her daughter was awake and alert when she left the home for work around 3:30 PM.
She said Chlebanowski called her after 7:00 PM that evening.
During the call, Chlebanowski reportedly informed her that the girl was gurgling and could not breathe.
He also stated that the toddler had a nosebleed.
Walker told investigators that experiencing a nosebleed was unusual for her daughter.

Walker called 911 while leaving her workplace.
She stated that she instructed Chlebanowski to hang up the phone and call emergency services for help.
According to an affidavit, the girl had received medical attention twice in the days preceding the August 15 incident.
On August 9, Walker brought the child to Mercy Hospital following a reported fall from a toilet.
A CT scan administered at Mercy Hospital came back clear.
Then, on August 12, Walker took the toddler to OU Children’s Hospital for medical treatment.
That visit was to address injuries to the child’s face and arm.
Hospital staff stated that the bruises and marks observed on August 15 were not present during the August 12 examination.
Emergency-room staff also stated that symptoms resulting from the injury that caused the brain bleed would have manifested immediately.
Following the initial response on August 15, police arrested Chlebanowski on a child-abuse complaint.
After the child died on August 18, prosecutors upgraded the case against him.
Chlebanowski was charged with first-degree murder.
He was additionally charged with two counts of child abuse.
On August 25, police arrested Walker.
Walker was charged with second-degree murder.
She also faces one count of child abuse.
Both Chlebanowski and Walker were booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
They are charged, not convicted.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
