A 62-year-old Las Vegas man fatally beat his girlfriend with a beer mug during an argument inside their RV, police said.
Dana “Doc” Baker, 62, lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, with his 52-year-old girlfriend, Jennifer Evanson.
Baker and Evanson were fighting inside their recreational vehicle when he pulled her out of bed, according to police.
Evanson struck her head on a nearby table after Baker pulled her from the bed, according to detectives.
Baker told detectives that he was furious during the dispute because he believed Evanson was seeing other men.
Instead of stopping there, Baker picked up a beer mug, according to investigators. He then hit her in the head with the mug seven or eight times, police said.
Officers arrived at the scene around 9:45 a.m. and discovered Evanson was already dead, according to police.
She had suffered gaping wounds to her head, according to authorities. Baker was gone.
The suspect was found the next day hiding in a tent in the desert near Las Vegas Boulevard, police said.
Baker pleaded guilty that July to a charge of second-degree murder, court records show.
In September 2014, a judge sentenced the 62-year-old defendant to 10 to 25 years in prison, according to court records.
He will become eligible for parole after serving the first 10 years of that prison sentence, according to the court.
