A 32-year-old Brooklyn man was critically injured when three people were stabbed in Crown Heights early Monday morning, police said.
The 32-year-old victim was attacked alongside a 23-year-old man and a 36-year-old man in Brooklyn, according to police.
The violence erupted around 5:48 a.m. near Carroll Street and Utica Avenue, cops said.
Both the 32-year-old man and the 23-year-old man were stabbed in the neck, police said. The 36-year-old was stabbed in the face.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene following the pre-dawn attack, according to authorities.
First responders rushed all three wounded men to Kings County Hospital, cops said.
The 32-year-old man remained in critical condition at the hospital, cops said. The other two men were listed in stable condition.
The stabbings occurred hours before the notoriously violent West Indian American Day parade was set to kick off, according to police.
The bloodshed took place just blocks from the pre-dawn J’Ouvert Festival, cops said.
The J’Ouvert celebration begins at 6 a.m. in Brooklyn, according to authorities. That festival runs until the parade kicks off at 11 a.m.
Police said the parade will be promptly shut down at 5:30 p.m.
That decision was made after six people were shot during the festivities last year, according to officials.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch addressed the security preparations ahead of the event on Friday, police said.
“Thousands of NYPD cops will be on the parade routes and in the surrounding neighborhoods from Sunday night through Monday. This is one of our department’s largest deployments of the year at this time,” she said Friday.
No arrests have been made, cops said.
