A deadly attack in the heart of New York City’s Times Square has left one woman dead, another man injured, and the alleged attacker dead following a confrontation with police.
According to the report, 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros Lopez attacked two people at approximately 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Both victims in the Midtown attack were strangers to her.
One of the victims was identified as 32-year-old Erin Piacenti.
Piacenti was identified as an executive at Bank of America.
She died from the injuries she sustained in the attack.
A 68-year-old man was also injured during the incident.
Video footage reportedly shows Lopez walking through the Times Square area during the encounter.
In the recorded footage, Lopez was reportedly seen wearing a pink T-shirt.
She was also reportedly carrying a cross-body bag.
The video reportedly shows Lopez brandishing two kitchen knives as she moved through the area.
Responding police officers confronted Lopez at the scene.
Officers initially attempted to use a Taser to stop her.
Then officers ultimately shot Lopez.
She died from her injuries.
In the aftermath of the deadly confrontation, relatives described Lopez’s background and personal life.
Her relatives described a woman whose life had reportedly become increasingly complicated by mental health struggles, family estrangement, and a difficult divorce.
Her brother, 58-year-old Patrick Peralta, provided specific details about the difficulties she had faced over the years.
Peralta said Lopez had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder approximately 10 years ago.
According to Peralta, those struggles stretched back even further than that formal medical diagnosis.

He said his sister experienced postpartum depression following the birth of her second child approximately two decades ago.
Peralta said she later reached a point where she could no longer cope with raising her children.
And Lopez was the youngest of six children in what her brother described as a close family.
She grew up in the neighborhood of Jackson Heights, Queens.
In her professional career, Lopez worked in human resources.
According to her brother, she attended church daily.
Lopez was the mother of three daughters.
Her three daughters ranged in age from their late teens to their late 20s.
Her brother said Lopez’s youngest and oldest daughters had been living in Florida with their father.
Those two daughters had been estranged from their mother for years amid her previous mental health difficulties.
Her middle daughter lives with severe autism.
She is nonverbal.
That daughter reportedly resides in a care facility located in Brooklyn.
Following the attack in Times Square, family members gathered together.
They assembled at their mother’s Queens home in the wake of the incident.
Family members were reportedly devastated as they gathered at the residence.
