A Fayette County man has been arrested after authorities say his infant daughter was found with multiple severe injuries.
Charles Taylor is charged with child neglect causing injury.
The investigation into the incident began on Aug. 25.
According to a criminal complaint, officers met with investigators at Plateau Medical Center.
There, law enforcement observed numerous scratches and bruises across the infant’s torso.
Officers also observed broken skin under the child’s armpit.
They noted a bump on her head as well.
Hospital staff later determined that the infant had suffered a skull fracture.
Medical personnel also discovered that the child had sustained a brain bleed.
The infant’s mother told investigators the baby had no visible injuries when she left for work earlier that morning.

Later that day, Taylor allegedly stopped answering his phone.
A neighbor was then asked to check on the infant.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department also responded to conduct a welfare check.
Authorities subsequently located Taylor in Oak Hill and placed him under arrest.
During an interview with law enforcement, Taylor allegedly admitted that he had dropped the infant on her head earlier that morning.
He also reportedly told investigators that some of the other marks may have come from holding her.
And he told them the marks could have resulted from bouncing her on his leg or knee.
Taylor was transported to Southern Regional Jail.
He was held there to await arraignment.
He now faces a felony charge of child neglect.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
