“I CAN SPEND THIS CHURCH MONEY HOWEVER I LIKE”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, NORTH CAROLINA AUTHORITIES SAY FORMER BAPTIST PASTOR DEVIN CYRUS CARROLL STOLE NEARLY $58,000 FROM HAPPY HOME BAPTIST CHURCH WHILE ALREADY OUT ON BOND FOR ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTING A 13-YEAR-OLD STUDENT… AND HE IS NOW FACING 16 FELONY CHARGES BEHIND BARS.
Devin Cyrus Carroll, 23, is a former Baptist pastor and former middle school aide.
North Carolina authorities arrested Carroll again on August 26.
Officers booked him into the Columbus County Detention Center.
He now faces 16 felony charges accusing him of stealing $57,934.13 from Happy Home Baptist Church.
Carroll worked at the church before later becoming its pastor.
According to arrest warrants, the alleged theft occurred in February 2024.
The warrants state that Carroll allegedly used $42,925 in church funds to make seven payments on outstanding loans through Advance America.
Another $14,685.98 allegedly went toward personal expenses and leisure activities.
Those expenses allegedly included DoorDash deliveries and restaurant orders.
They also allegedly covered horseback riding, a trip to Myrtle Waves, and his cellphone bill.
Warrants state the stolen money paid for a personal lawyer, guitar-related purchases, and a veterinary visit for his dog.
Investigators allege church funds also financed shopping trips across four states.
The warrants list an additional $323.15 spent on retail purchases.
At the time of his latest arrest, Carroll was already out on a $30,000 bond from an earlier South Carolina case.

That earlier case began on May 29, 2025, when a 13-year-old student and her parents reported an alleged assault at Conway Middle School.
Carroll was working at the school as an in-school suspension aide at the time of the alleged incident.
The report alleged that he grabbed the 13-year-old student in her private area “with the intent of arousal.”
Police arrested him on July 5 in connection with that report.
Authorities charged him in South Carolina with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
Jail records show he was subsequently released after posting the $30,000 bond.
Following that arrest, a former student told WMBF that Carroll had acted flirtatiously with her classmates.
The former student said he asked students whether they had boyfriends.
She also stated that he openly asked teenagers for their phone numbers.
Yet that criminal sexual conduct case remains pending.
Then came the new North Carolina embezzlement case.
Carroll made his first court appearance on the 16 new felony embezzlement charges following his August 26 arrest.
During the appearance, the court appointed him a public defender.
The court set his secured bond at $75,000.
His next court appearance is scheduled for September 17.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
