“I WALKED INTO THE BEDROOM AND GOT A GUN”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, PROSECUTORS SAY A TAMPA MAN TURNED A SEXUAL ENCOUNTER INTO A DEADLY ATTACK… AND HE HAS NOW RECEIVED TWO LIFE SENTENCES IN PRISON.
A 29-year-old Tampa man has been sentenced to life in prison after a deadly shooting inside his home.
Prosecutors said the incident began when a threesome inside his apartment turned into a fatal attack.
In April 2023, Dewayne Gallishaw and his 26-year-old boyfriend invited a 23-year-old man to their Marsh Harbor Place residence.
Prosecutors described the gathering as an invitation for a “sexual encounter.”
According to an arrest affidavit, Gallishaw welcomed the 23-year-old man inside the residence.
The victim and Gallishaw’s boyfriend then began engaging in sexual activity.
At some point during the encounter, Gallishaw walked out of the apartment.
His boyfriend followed him outside to check on him.
Gallishaw reportedly told his boyfriend that he was fine.
He then instructed his boyfriend to go back inside the apartment.
A few minutes later, Gallishaw returned to the unit.
Prosecutors say Gallishaw walked into the bedroom and retrieved a firearm.
He then returned to the living room where the victim was located.
Then, without warning, Gallishaw shot the 23-year-old victim twice in the head.
Gallishaw’s boyfriend immediately ran into their bedroom and locked the door.
But Gallishaw allegedly kicked the bedroom door down.
The two men struggled inside the apartment.

The boyfriend managed to force Gallishaw outside the apartment.
He then locked the front door behind Gallishaw.
Gallishaw still was not finished.
Authorities say Gallishaw fired multiple rounds through the front door before fleeing.
The violence also spilled into a neighboring apartment unit.
A 72-year-old woman was sitting in her living room when she heard a disturbance next door.
She then heard gunfire erupting from the neighboring apartment.
Investigators determined Gallishaw fired at least 12 rounds into her apartment.
The neighboring woman was shot in the foot.
Gallishaw was ultimately charged with first-degree capital murder for the 23-year-old victim’s death.
He was also charged with first-degree attempted murder for the attack on his boyfriend.
In addition, he faced a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon for injuring the neighboring woman.
Gallishaw went to trial in July 2026.
One week later, a jury found him guilty on all three criminal charges.
On August 28, State Attorney Suzy Lopez announced Gallishaw’s punishment.
Gallishaw received two life sentences for the murder and attempted murder convictions.
He also received an additional 30-year prison sentence for the aggravated battery conviction.
He received two life terms.
He received 30 additional years.
