Influencer Evelyn Lima Dantas gunned down in front of dad: ‘We are working with the hypothesis of a cover-up’

A 21-year-old influencer was dragged from her home and shot dead in front of her father, Brazilian outlet Globo reported.

Evelyn Lima Dantas, 21, lived in northeast Brazil, according to reports.

Two men broke into the young woman’s home early Wednesday before dragging her out to the sidewalk, according to the outlet.

The armed intruders repeatedly shot Dantas on the pavement, Globo reported.

The victim’s father was present and witnessed the fatal shooting outside the home, according to reports.

Before fleeing the scene, the gunmen spray-painted the letters “TCP” onto the front of the house, according to the outlet.

The painted initials were a nod to Terceiro Comando Puro, recognized as the second most powerful gang in Rio de Janeiro, reports stated.

The fatal shooting occurred while authorities were actively investigating Dantas over the murder of a retired police officer, according to Globo.

That victim, 56-year-old retired officer Antonio Anildo Alves da Silva, was killed on July 29, police said.

Silva was gunned down by four hooded men outside a supermarket, according to authorities.

Investigators suspected Dantas helped the shooters before the killing, Globo reported. She was nevertheless released from custody on Sept. 9 amid the ongoing inquiry, according to the outlet.

The young woman had amassed more than 24,000 online followers by vlogging trips and showing off her looks to fans, reports stated. But she was already known to authorities after previously being arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking for the gang, police said.

Investigators are now exploring whether her murder was carried out as some form of retribution, according to officials.

“We are working with the hypothesis of a cover-up or retaliation by some criminal faction,” Rodrigo Lopes told reporters.

No arrests have been made in connection with the slaying, police said.
