A Tennessee pre-K teacher allegedly grabbed a 4-year-old boy by the neck and head before shoving a biscuit into his mouth, according to a school resource officer’s affidavit.
Debra Robertson teaches pre-K at Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Elementary in Bruceton, Tennessee.
The alleged assault left the child with a busted lip, court documents state.
On August 28, the incident took place inside the classroom at approximately 8:30 a.m., the affidavit states.
The 4-year-old had refused breakfast before the confrontation occurred, according to his mother. The school resource officer reported that the boy was visibly distressed in the aftermath, the affidavit states.
School officials contacted the child’s mother, Anna Townsend, later that afternoon, according to the report.

Townsend said she viewed classroom video showing her son crying with his face covered while the teacher continued berating him. After watching the footage, the mother also reported discovering a scratch on the boy’s face.
“It took everything in me and his father not to break out in tears in that office watching that,” Townsend said.
The school district suspended Robertson on the day of the incident, school officials said.
She remains suspended without pay pending the outcome of the case, the district said.
Robertson faces an assault charge in connection with the classroom incident, according to court documents.
On September 2, authorities arrested Robertson and booked her into the Carroll County Jail, records show.
The accused teacher had her bond set at $2,500, according to jail records.
