A critically wounded Memphis man shot outside a police station blamed an unknown carjacker before investigators arrested Brianna Moore

A 24-year-old Memphis woman allegedly shot her boyfriend multiple times outside a police precinct after meeting him there to return a house key, police said.

Brianna Moore, 24, of Memphis, faces multiple criminal charges in connection with the shooting, according to court documents.

The meeting had been arranged outside the police station so Moore could hand over the key to her boyfriend, investigators said.

The boyfriend was transported to a hospital in critical condition following the shooting, police said. One bullet also penetrated the precinct front window while officers were inside, according to authorities.

The round that passed through the window added a reckless-endangerment allegation to an already serious situation, police said.

What took place immediately before the gunfire has been described differently by the individuals involved, according to investigators.

Moore’s boyfriend initially gave detectives an entirely different explanation for how he suffered the gunshot wounds, police said. He first claimed that an unknown person had attempted to carjack him and shot him, according to investigators.

The injured man later provided a different sequence of events to investigators, according to police.

Moore’s boyfriend reportedly told police that after receiving the key, he got out of his vehicle and attempted to grab her. At that point, the defendant allegedly fired at him, police said.

Another account provided to investigators described a more violent confrontation before the gunfire began, according to court records.

According to a witness, Moore approached the black vehicle to return the key when her boyfriend struck her in the back of the head, police said. The blow allegedly knocked off her glasses.

The witness reportedly said the boyfriend then stepped on Moore’s glasses and began moving toward her again, according to police.

That was when Moore reached into her bra and pulled out a black handgun, the witness told investigators.

The defendant then allegedly fired several times at her boyfriend outside the vehicle, according to the witness.

A second witness provided police with a somewhat different description of the moments surrounding the gunfire, according to authorities.

That witness reportedly saw a silver Honda pull up near a black Nissan outside the station, police said.

According to the witness, a woman exited the Honda from the passenger side, approached the Nissan and began firing at the man.

Someone then rushed into the precinct and alerted officers that a man was outside on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

Investigators later identified Moore as the alleged shooter in the confrontation, according to police.

Officers subsequently stopped the silver Honda in which Moore was riding and detained two women inside the car, police said.

Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant for the vehicle following the traffic stop, court documents show.

After executing the search warrant, police discovered a black Taurus G3C 9 mm firearm on the front seat, according to authorities.

Moore allegedly acknowledged firing at her boyfriend when questioned by investigators, police said. She told detectives that she did so only after he assaulted her.

Moore was subsequently arrested and booked on three separate charges, according to police.

The defendant was charged with aggravated assault, domestic assault involving bodily harm and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, court records show.

The competing accounts of what occurred immediately before the shooting could be significant as the case moves through the courts, documents state.

Whether Moore’s actions were legally justified or constituted criminal conduct will depend on the evidence and applicable law, according to records. The accused has been charged and not convicted.
