A 33-year-old Brazilian ex-con suspected of operating as a serial killer was arrested while trying to flee disguised as a woman, according to reports.
Jorlan Alves da Silva, 33, was captured during a raid in Paraiba state in northeastern Brazil, Record R7 reported.
Video of the arrest showed the suspect wearing a striped dress and a loosely fitting long black wig, the network reported.
Officers pulled off the wig to reveal the smiling suspect’s short hair, according to the footage.
Silva was also wearing women’s sandals, dark glasses and painted nails when officers moved in, O Globo reported.
The suspect was carrying a 2-year-old child when he was apprehended, the newspaper reported. Police said investigators are still trying to work out how he came to be with the youngster.
He was arrested after a 48-hour operation, according to reports.
The arrest occurred on Sept. 13 as Silva attempted to evade law enforcement, reports said.
Security forces earlier spotted and stopped a vehicle used by Silva and other alleged accomplices, arresting one occupant inside, the reports said. Silva somehow managed to escape.

The ex-con is suspected of carrying out at least 15 murders for organized crime gangs in the past three months alone, police said.
Authorities allege that Silva has killed 16 people, according to reports. During questioning, however, the suspect reportedly confessed to killing around 80 people during his life.
Silva allegedly confessed to committing his first murder at 13, Detective Douglas Garcia of the Civil Police said.
The suspect spent five to six years in prison for various other offenses during his life before his release in late May, Detective Garcia said.
One of the cases under active investigation is the Aug. 1 double homicide of two businessmen in Rio Tinto, according to police.
Silva accurately pointed authorities in the direction of where one of the bodies was buried, Detective Garcia said.
His claim of carrying out 80 killings remains under investigation, police said.
If true, Silva would be the most prolific serial killer in Brazilian history, according to reports.
He would surpass Pedro Rodrigues Filho, known as the “Brazilian Dexter,” who was convicted of 71 murders but claimed to have killed over 100, reports said.
