An internet installer secretly sent himself a customer’s private sexually explicit video after asking to use her phone during a home appointment, Irvine police said.
Logan Edward Gray-McCannon, 37, was performing the installation as a contractor with ITC Service Group Acquisition on behalf of GFiber, according to Irvine Police.
In early August, a resident had GFiber installed at her apartment, police said.
During the appointment, Gray-McCannon allegedly asked for her cellphone so he could “test the Wi-Fi” signal, according to police.
She handed the phone over, police said.
Roughly 10 to 15 minutes later, the customer checked on the technician, the woman told police. She could not see exactly what he was doing with her phone, according to investigators.
The resident later discovered that a private sexually explicit video she had previously texted to her partner had also been sent from her device, police said.
The file had been transmitted to another device through iMessage, according to police.

Someone apparently deleted the outgoing message from her cellphone, police said. But the transmission remained visible on her linked iPad, according to investigators.
The woman traced the phone number receiving the video back to Gray-McCannon, police said.
That number belonged to the same installer who had been inside her home, according to police.
On September 11, officers arrested the contractor, police said.
Gray-McCannon was booked on allegations including commercial burglary, sharing a private sexual image without consent and unauthorized computer access, according to police.
Evidence uncovered during the investigation suggests other victims may exist, detectives said.
Police released a photograph of the contractor, according to the department. Officers asked anyone with a similar experience to come forward, investigators said.
The case remains under investigation, and the charges are allegations at this stage, police said.
