“WE ARE TAKING WHAT YOU HAVE”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, POLICE SAY AN OFF-DUTY SULLIVAN COUNTY DEPUTY INTERRUPTED TWO TENNESSEE MEN ARMED WITH A STICK AND A PIPE TRYING TO ROB A MAN… AND BOTH SUSPECTS ARE NOW WANTED FOR AGGRAVATED ROBBERY.
Two Tennessee men are wanted following an alleged morning robbery attempt.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 7:45 a.m.
It took place near the traffic circle connecting Gibson Mill Road, East Ravine Road and Watauga Street.
Kingsport police identified the suspects as 35-year-old Justin Roberts and 26-year-old William Burk.
An off-duty Sullivan County deputy happened to see the two men allegedly attempting to rob another man.
Police said Roberts and Burk were armed with a large stick and what appeared to be a metal pipe.
The victim was reportedly trying to defend himself with two pocketknives.
But the off-duty deputy intervened.
The deputy interrupted the attempted robbery before anyone was seriously injured.
That intervention stopped the situation from escalating.
Then both suspects ran from the scene.
Roberts and Burk have each been charged with aggravated robbery.
And authorities consider both men dangerous.
Police are warning members of the public not to approach either man.
Instead, anyone who spots them is asked to contact authorities.
They are wanted.
They remain sought by police.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
